(Nuremberg, 27 November 2025) The stiftung ear (ear) is currently being contacted by numerous producers who are expressing concern about the continuation of their registration under the BattVO and BattDG regulations in the coming year. Some producers are also pointing out challenges that producer responsibility organisations (PRO) face in meeting the approval requirements.
The ear has already taken all necessary measures to ensure the approval of the PROs and to successfully implement the smooth transition to the new regulations at the turn of the year. This will enable manufacturers to continue participating in the market, provided that the current applicants meet the respective approval requirements as PROs.
In fact, some PROs are currently faced with the task of meeting the new approval requirements under the Battery Ordinance (BattVO) and the Battery Implementation Act (BattDG). The ear is in close and constructive dialogue with all applicants in order to provide the best possible support for the process.
‘We are preparing intensively for the transition and are in constant contact with the PROs. Our goal is to ensure that all stakeholders affected can start well and on time under the new battery law,’ says Alexander Goldberg, CEO of ear.
For specific questions and concerns regarding the status of approval, ear suggests that producers contact their trusted service providers and potential future PROs directly. Producers may also be able to provide targeted support in meeting the requirements and develop individual solutions.
The ear asks for your understanding that it cannot provide any information on the processing status of individual PRO applications except to the applicants themselves. However, the ear is confident that the close cooperation of all parties involved – in particular between manufacturers and PROs– will ensure the successful implementation of the new regulations.
